Use this checklist before requesting or comparing quotes.

ROOM AND EXISTING CONDITIONS
[ ] Measure the room, ceiling height, doors and windows.
[ ] Mark existing toilet, shower, bath, basin and plumbing positions.
[ ] Photograph visible damage, ventilation issues and access constraints.
[ ] Note the age of the home and any known asbestos or water-damage history.

NEEDS AND PRIORITIES
[ ] List who uses the room and when.
[ ] Separate must-haves from preferences.
[ ] Decide whether the current layout can remain.
[ ] Record storage, accessibility, cleaning and ventilation priorities.

SCOPE AND SELECTIONS
[ ] Decide between a cosmetic refresh and a full strip-out.
[ ] Nominate fixtures you will supply and fixtures the renovator will supply.
[ ] Record tile extent, tapware finish, vanity type and shower-screen approach.
[ ] Allow a contingency for hidden conditions and late changes.

QUOTE COMPARISON
[ ] Give every renovator the same written scope.
[ ] Compare demolition, disposal, waterproofing, electrical, plumbing and tiling inclusions.
[ ] Check exclusions, provisional sums, payment stages and variation terms.
[ ] Ask for registration and insurance evidence where required.
[ ] Check recent, relevant references before signing.
